We remember the Hmong and Vietnamese refugees who gave up everything to ally with the [failed] US effort in the VN war.
Yes, there have been Asian gangs. LA SF etc. Some brutal. Mostly against other Asian gangs in order to establish their own "territory" among earlier immigrant power groups. Their gang loyalty was derived from their loyalty to origins, family, and gangs in Hong Kong and China (like the Triad). But yes they used drugs, prostitution, etc. which harmed the community, but mostly directed to rivalry within their own immigrant groups.
Such as Wah Ching vs. the ABCs, American Born Chinese. This was real!
Like the rival Puerto Rican gangs in NY back in West Side Story.
I was just referring to the movie. No gangs where I grew up and kids carried guns in a hanger attached to the back window of a pick up truck.
I have friends who grew up in NJ across from NY. They have been very useful in describing the Italian gangs and explaining what racist nicknames mean.
I did get a lesson while living in Hawaii though in racial identifiers amongst asians. And I have a South Korean friend who still hates the Japanese and my best friend in college was Japanese (beautiful, class officer, 4.0, sorority sister) I was born right after the war and don't know if this is still a national memory.
As far as I know, there is still some resentment of the Japanese among the Koreans and Chinese . . .
The Japanese forces in WWII conducted many atrocities. Against Americans as well. We forgave the Japanese and German people long ago. They are our friends.
OH not to forget the Italian gangs aka Mafia! And who stopped their hegemony in NY? OH Rudy, and Trump!
HA! Meme worthy!
Like we commented on the recent riots: they are not looting working boots! !
Remember the Koreans on roof-tops defending their stores during the 1992 LA riots. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooftop_Koreans

The Jets weren't Puerto Rican.
Thanks! We want to be accurate here. But weren't there PR v PR gangs and white v white gangs too?
For a fact, there were Chinese v Chinese gangs and Chinese vs ABC gangs . . . even if my analogy is flawed.
