I know it's a joke, but in all fairness, she's right.

In his book "Never Split the Difference" Former FBI hostage negotiator Chris Voss treats the word "no" as an opportunity, not a closed door. Getting a "no" from someone in any sort of negotiation immediately sets the stage for actual negotiation to take place, based on the interests and hard limits of both parties.
