I am assuming the goal is Moscow, because theres what Zelensky has been targeting. Or did younforget the surpise drone attacks? Zelensky is being told to try and behead the snake.
And it wouldn't be the first time stormshadow has been approved, and it's not a very impressive system.
Go back and look at how many "wonder weapons were promised to turn the tide, and failed. HIMARS, Abrams, MLRS, depleted uranium rounds, and f16s.
The problem the West faces is that in it's effort to prop up other countries and "save the environment" it's reduced it's capacity to produce weapons. Meanwhile, Russia took a page out of the US' book after WW2 with the Defense Production Act. But instead of making it to where their manufacturers had to convert to a war production footing, they just built massive factories that could ramp up production capacity as needed. For example, remember back when the US celebrated a Canadian factory opening up, and said they could produce about 15,000 artillery rounds a month? In order to reach a production goal of about about 100,000 annually across all manufacturers? US officials concluded that Russia could produce 2 million shells annually if they ramp up production.
They don't have to import resources, or struggle to open up new operations to meet demand. Yes, they may have to move planes and stuff further away, but that's not the disadvantage you think it is. You're just shortening their supply lines and extending Ukraines. All Putin has to do, and has been doing really, is waiting the West out while everyone else expends resources. I know Europe has been having a hard time keeping up since they barely have an industrial base anymore.
They don't want to turn Russia into glass. But they do want to balkanize Russia and divide all of its resources up because Europe has none and doesn't produce anything.
Go back and look at what was targeted by
that drone attack. It was the Kremlin.
Suppose you entertain the idea that Ukraine was a hotbed of corruption and money laundering for many, not just top Ukrainian officials, then you might see why everyone was very upset about Trump's phone call with Zelensky (the 'very fine phone call'), where Trump asked him to look into Joe and Hunter's dealings Burisma dealings, and most notably the firing of a Ukrainian official looking into that very thing. Joe's famous quid-pro-quo moment.
Not only that but since the start of the Russian invasion, capital has been fleeing Europe. This is a very bad thing for a continent that doesn't produce anything and imports almost everything it needs to survive. For instance, It was a big deal when France was kicked out of Niger, where they happen to get most of the Uranium they use for their nuclear power.
Europe would benefit the most from WWIII because it would be the US fighting it, and since the US would be on a full-blown war footing, a lot of the capital that fled Europe would return to Europe seeing it being less of a risk.
It was more like the flagpole of the Kremlin
And that should tell you something. They have been trying everything to make Putin misstep in retaliation so that NATO finally has the lawful excuse it needs to go in. Think about that. All this BS the international community has raised over the situation, but the best it can do is send arms to Ukraine. Because they know they can't do anything. They talk a big game about Ukraine joining NATO, but no country can join NATO during things like ongoing border disputes.
There was always going to be a confrontation between NATO and Russia, Russia just decided to move the timetable up. It invaded Ukraine to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO, and NATO can't do anything about it. Thus, all these things we've seen to make Putin overreact. They want him to launch a nuke, innocents be damned because they want/need this war.

What that tells me is there is a larger influx of goods than the railway was prepared for.
Better to have that problem than a whole bunch of trains running empty.
