Zijie Yan an associate professor in the Department of Applied Physical Sciences, running a lab that conducted nanoparticle research, was shot and killed on campus by 34-year-old Tailei Qi, one of his graduate students, the suspect went straight to Yan and fatally shot him, then immediately left the building and walked off campus.
