Weapon rules:

1. Treat every weapon as if it were loaded.

2. Never point a weapon at anything you do not intend to kill.

3. Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you intend to kill.

4. Keep the weapon on safe until you intend to kill.

And the unwritten rule...

5. Know your target and what lies beyond.

Don't even think about shooting anything until this becomes second nature.

Memorize these. Ingrain them into every fiber of your body. Practice. Muscle memory. Practice. Muscle memory.
