Right. I’m confused too. Haven’t read the Koran so I’m just going by heresay about what it says in there. But is it like a special sect in Afghanistan? Like how Christian’s also have branch off sects with some very dubious beliefs?

As recently as 1979 only one in 5 afghans could read.

Today it's 2 in 5 can read.

Very likely most muslims haven't read it either.
