I started as a ramjet and rocket propulsion engineer, got involved in the ROLAND 2 antiaircraft missile program, wound up shifting to system engineering and operations analysis. Subsequently worked on high-energy laser system design and analysis, military space systems, satellite defense systems, the Strategic Defense Initiative, kinetic energy projectiles, launch vehicle concepts, battle management system architecture, and lots of other stuff. I need to sit down and write my memoirs. A signal date was 1997 when Boeing merged with McDonnell-Douglas and Darth Condit ruled the realm. It was all downhill from there, both for me and the company (as we can see from the disastrous 737 MAX and the embarrassing CST-100 Starliner capsule).
