I have been to Canada many times. Very enjoyable and nice people. Once you get out of the city and its vicinity, Canada and the US are very alike. I am glad to hear that Canada is looking at an upcoming conservative landslide. I hear you on BC. I spent some time in Vancouver and Victoria. Everybody that had the money to leave Hong Kong seemed to move there before the CCP took over. But I still remember the fabulous halibut fish fry I had and the carriage ride with my wife in Victoria.
