Good for a "ha-ha" and characteristic of the Bee, but I really don't like the idea.

I've lived near Canada all my life, they come down into Washington to shop, I get annoyed at British Columbia license plates, and all that nice stuff. But they are a decent people, the farther they are from Ottawa, capable of first rate technology (e.g., the Avro Arrow interceptor, the CANDU reactor, the Canadarm manipulator), wonderful music (e.g., Marjan Mozetich), excellent actors and comedians (you might be surprised), wise thinkers (e.g., Jordan Peterson), and enough pride that they would deeply and bitterly resent such a maneuver. It is a real insult. We are supposed to be brothers from a common mother, but we have often treated them in a shabby way (e.g., killing their aerospace industry). They are characteristically "nice" and won't say much---but I wouldn't blame them if they did.

Think of how we would feel if a Canuck looked at the Biden administration and dismissed the U.S. as a "Third World shit-hole." Though we might privately agree with chagrin, our reaction would always be "But it's OUR shit-hole!"
