As far as we know, there was no bite incident. In the old days after an animal had bitten someone the animal would be caged for observation. Being as this was a pet and no one was bitten the animal could have been observed for X amount of days and then returned to its owner. Ditto with the racoon.
Generally domesticated animals are quarantined....
