Lets assume that they are the shooters, wouldn't it be considered very odd for them to have the same racial, age etc profile?

You are correct, but even my closest friends don't know what my middle name is. Yet all these assassins.....even fifty years on, we know them by three names, and if we only heard their first and last names it would probably go over our heads. John Booth, James Ray, Mark Chapman, their two word names just doesn't have that same "ring" to it.
