Wow very nice. This is where the logic first broke for me:

family is loaded—grandfather built golf resorts and luxury clubs .. grows up in towson, goes to elite private school (gilman) .. $40k/year tuition but worth every penny

now couple with:

gets into surfing accident while on vacation in hawaii .. goes through the healthcare system hellscape—insurance denies surgery .. spends on specialists, treatments fail, pain keeps getting worse .. resentment grows, starts ranting about “parasite healthcare execs"

If his family was that loaded you're telling me he actually went through the regular healthcare channels instead of going the route if the uber rich?! He could have hired his own personal pain doctor like Prince and Michael Jackson had. He could have had any surgeon or specialist, any rehab clinic. He could have gone to any doctor on planet earth, yet he somehow faced the same insurance hurdles we all do? Not buying that for a second.
