In three states, New York, Virginia and Maryland, it's illegal to have your cat declawed. π In some cities, it's illegal to declaw your cat; Los Angeles, San Francisco, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Austin, Tacoma, Madison, Denver, Washington DC. No veterinarian in any of these cities or states will declaw a cat.
Declawing a cat is considered a major surgical amputation. People say that its similar to a human having their finger cut off at the topmost knuckle, causing pain to the cat. The catβs behavior can also be changed, causing behaviors that may appear similar to mental health issues.
In most of these same states and cities... it's perfectly legal for doctors to perform full sex change operations on a human child. A parent, teacher or even a counselor can persuade a child to agree to these transition operations.
Just food for thought.
...closer to having your feet cut off and having to walk on the stumps, honestly...
cats put all their weight on their toes when they walk/stand.
