Word, yep at 55 that would be a thing... I assumed it wasn't since why would they date as a solidified couple let alone get engaged w/out that obvious conversation and being in the same page.

Rather than projecting your assumptions on to them, maybe realize it could be 101 things non of which you would know:

-lost chemistry

-infidelity

-heat from being near Trumps orbit as SHTF

-arguments

-money/finances/prenup/debt

-extended family or friends clashed...

-sex drive imbalance

-emotional unavailability

-career ambition
