The FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 was enacted in October 2018, authorizing Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) programs through the end of fiscal year 2023, which concluded on September 30, 2023. To prevent a lapse in FAA operations, Congress enacted four short-term extensions between September 2023 and May 2024. Subsequently, the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024 was signed into law on May 16, 2024, reauthorizing FAA programs through fiscal year 2028.

Therefore, the claim that the 2018 Act is set to expire in December 2024 is inaccurate; its authorization ended in September 2023, and the 2024 Act has since extended FAA programs through 2028.
