The love of money is the root of “all kinds” of evil.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
I Timothy 6:10
This comes up in many of the Bible studies I’m in, there are points made using specific words of the version of the Bible people are reading from, but if you go to a different version you get a different translation. The main idea is still there though.
“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
1 Timothy 6:10 KJV
“For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”
1 Timothy 6:10 NASB1995
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.”
1 Timothy 6:10 ESV
Depends on the translation - but don't get lost in the weeds fren.....I'll take "all evil" or "all kinds of evil". I really think the important word in 1 Tim 6:10 is "root".
1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV) "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
Thanks! I totally agree - $$ in itself is not inherently evil - but the love of $$ is. The vast majority of us would not steal, cheat or murder for $$. But there are those who would.
Here's the rule folks: "Follow the $$". The love of $$ really is the root of evil. Their unspoken motto is: profits over people.

My point also.

I only wanted to clarify because some people ( NOT you 🙏) take the verse out of context meaning the tool of money itself is evil.

Greed is the root of evil.
