Bless you. My son's neighbor just passed away. He was 84. Everyday I would see him outside doing something. He would always come and mow the ditch in front of my son's house just to have something to do. He would bring them some of the largest juiciest tomatoes and strawberries I ever saw. He was quite the farmer. He loved his cows and would go out with a hay fork and tractor and feed them. He worked on up to the day he had a stroke.
My son said that his son who lives across the road from my son (also a neighbor) told him that his father suffered a mild stroke 2 weeks ago when he went outside to check the mailbox. After being admitted to the hospital, he developed pneumonia that they had to drain his lungs twice. After the second drain, he told the nurses and his doctor that 'no more, I've had enough.' So he ended his life quietly and with dignity. He was a nice man. He died quietly in his sleep. I only met him once, but I will greatly miss him and his zest for life.
Hospitals are some of the most demoralizing heart breaking systems. Bless his heart.
😢 He sounds like a person worthy of knowing.
