You are confusing CPRS which went away during the Carter administration with what Fed Employees get now
Way back when, Fed employees could see 80% pay (no SS) at retirement after some number of years
Today, Fed Employees get 1.1% of their best 3 yr average for each year they work. And they pay Social Security like everyone else. They have a program similar to 401K the smart ones contribute into. And they make an average of 25% LESS than their commercial counterparts.
Now, Railroad employees don’t pay into Social Security and rely entirely on pensions
