I've been having issues since the early 2000s but its gotten way worse.
I started with gallbladder irritation under my right ribs, then IBS and had numerous more issues when I moved to the US.
It seemed ok while in the Army but the last few years issues got worse.
Now my gallbladder is severely irritated with stones and the like, I'm extremely bloated with my weight fluxuating.
Basically from my throat with GERD all the way down with what feels like hemeroids.
I turned 43 in late November and i'm male, anyone knowledgeable have some pointers? With all the GI cancers going around i'm quite nervous.
My thyroid is indeed not functioning properly, I take synthroid (I know, bad and ruined my teeth). I have possibly been exposed to radioactive particles in the service. I really need to find a good iodine supplement but thank you so much for the lead!
ETA: Also took antibiotics for my teeth infections.
Mary Ruth's Organic is what I take. It has helped with a lot of issues and I take 1-2 drops a day. A bottle lasted me almost a year.
Where do you live? Find a good alternative, holistic doctor that does chelation. That will take care of the heavy metals you probably picked up in the military the same as I did. Also get some UV blood treatments with ozone. Will help with a bunch of things! (Got rid of my migraines for one.)
I live in Oklahoma.

If not close to you try alternative-holistic doctors that offer UV blood or UVI therapy. You may be able to find something close. Just know that insurance will not cover any thing. Plain UVB/UVI is cheaper than with ozone, but the ozone packs a bigger punch.
Definitely, use the reclining bed and put the head up 5 to 7 inches, no higher. It doesn't take much to get relief from GERD.
Get the hell off of Synthroid. The alternative/holistic doctor can prescribe natural dedicated thyroid or if you have a compounding pharmacy they can make it for you. Again, insurance won't cover it, probably because it works and doesn't slowly kill you like Synthroid does.
Lugol’s iodine is what I use. I’m hypothyroid too. I suspect fluoride in my drinking water was what did it. Now on good well water
