I've just come back from watching the Homestead movie. Its a solid watch. I personally like to support Angel Studios in their work. (SPOILER) I didn't know they were doing a series tying into the movie, but it seems interesting. (SPOILER END) But as I sit here ruminating on the movie I seek to extract the lessons depicted and the messages therein.

The big lesson is to keep your faith in God and trust in Him. There is a plan. There is a purpose. Chances are you cannot see the puzzle for the pieces. Hold true.

Coupled to this lesson is to never forget your humanity and the humanity of those around you. You must not shut out the world and turn a blind eye to those in need. Especially when you have the means to alleviate their suffering.

You must be vigilant to the Evils of the world and be willing and able to take measures to stand against them. But you must not forget mercy. Do not deny the starving child a meal simply because the you're worried about your food stores or if that gesture of may invite more to seek you out. Find a way to do the most good for those within your reach. Just maybe you'll find a way to do good out in the broader world.

Fear is the mind killer. It turns men in to beasts and causes rationality to flee before it. You must gird yourself against your own fears and be aware of others and how they may be controlled by it.

Do not let your confidence lead you to naivete.

There is value in things and in people regardless of your ability to see it or recognize it. It is true that it is better to be a soldier in a garden than a gardener in a war, however, both are needed. The soldier needs food to live and to fight another day, but the gardener needs the soldier to protect him lest his hard won crops be taken from him.

Taxation is theft, but Charity is grace.

I'm curious about your thoughts. Please share them with me. I've not seen the connected series, so I cannot comment on the messaging of those stories. These are simply my takeaways from the theatrical release.
