The Hessians were conscripted to fight for the British. As good German Christians, they celebrated Christmas Eve. And God Bless them for it!

I think they were made prisoners rather than being killed in their sleep. Not going to look it up. OP needs to give sauce that they were killed in their sleep.

Sauce: I have an ancestor family member in the militia who guarded Hessian prisoners in PA.

Rob Lowe's ancestor was one of those Hessians. Saw it on ancestry show.

The barracks are an interesting place, if you ever get to visit.
