I had the same thought. That was a regular old cotton swab. Not sterile. Not a cheek swab. And no I have not taken the test. Both my parents did. That's all I need to know - I'm 100.00% white.
From what I've heard they will take cheek swabs for babies. The more reliable DNA companies only take cheek swabs because the cheek cells are a better way to collect true DNA samples. Which makes me wonder why 23&Me prefers saliva? You'd think they would want the bests samples which you can't get from saliva. Saliva is easily contaminated. For instance meats that have recently been chewed.
I pretty much remembered when i did it that you're supposed to brush your teeth and wait before you spit in the collection tube no cotton swabs. Did it years back and at a steep discount.
23&me uses tubes for you to spit in, not swabs.
