My father worked for the airlines, so I traveled a lot as a child to other countries. I saw first hand how lucky I was to live in America. I know people in the Philippines who can see the sky through their roof and dead bodies floating by their house in tsunamis.
Exactly.
The fact if the matter is, that most Americans have never been more than a few hundred miles away from their home town, let alone to a foreign country abroad.
Even going to say Ireland or the UK, I'm absolutely grateful to return to my USA again - EVERY single time.
It's easy for people to be marooned in their little town behind their PC and think that they know what it's like elsewhere in the world from photos and videos.
Many think that it's the same everywhere in the world as the USA - I can assure you, it most certainly is NOT - at all!
