"Stephanie called 911, only to be told that the police could not send a car to a moving vehicle."
The "police" are always "helpful", aren't they?
self-driving cars do not know self defense. I'm sure they'll stop for people blocking them by standing in front of them at intersections and do their best not to harm criminals while they rob their passengers.
They are designed for civilized society. Definitely not for San Francisco, at least not at the current moment of illegal aliens flooding the country.
We have enough poorly behaved irritants of our own, but I hear you.
I have thought about it as I age, that some time [long!, I hope] down the road I may not be able to drive. HEAVEN FORBID!!
Elders loose independence by being unable to drive, and are stuck in isolation waiting for visits which seldom come.
So I decided, when driverless cars are perfected, I would use one to preserve my independence! Esp if it had some kind of override . . .
This is just despicable bullying.
In the interim, there may be mistakes, errors, accidents but those will be sued against, fixed, etc. So the tech I view as not ready for the likes of me, but then I am still capable of driving whenever and wherever I choose! [Except night. I am fine when I know where I am going, on interstates, etc.] . . .
Not Miss Daisy, can't afford a liveried driver! Would be willing to hire by the hour though . . . but not yet.
What kind of idiot would get into one? Oh right... a left wing idiot.
Too bad the dingbat who likely voted for the conditions in SF didn't have some way to defend herself. Maybe she should call the police harder.
As with social media, I'll happily live the rest of my life having avoided all interaction with self-driving cars.
And I sense it'll be a longer life for having done so.
