I left my IT job at a large bank about 10 years ago when a new Indian manager was hired to be my boss. He supposedly had a Masters in IT but I had to explain to him what a MAC address was.
Best decision I ever made was to leave IT work behind.
I still speak to some of my good coworkers from that job and they all say I made the right decision to leave but they can't for various reasons. Now I teach music to children privately and my work life is the most rewarding it has ever been.
I know many other very talented IT workers who have left the field for similar reasons. Only those with no other options stay.
