On the “Polar Vortex”…I am offering for the people of Faith to align with the words of Jesus in Mark chapter 4 verse 39.
“And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”, and not join the chorus of doom.
In Numbers 22:21-39 it is recounted how God was willing to kill Balaam in order to prevent Balaam from speaking a curse in support of Balak.
My speech in regard to the winter weather forecast…1..”Stand up” (He arose)
- “Weather, NO, there will be no severe wind, temperatures, or precipitation.” (He rebuked the wind).
3..”Peace, be still. Mild temperatures, no colder than 25F at night and at least 40F EVERY day (adjust for your latitude). Gentle breezes, the homeless are safe, construction projects continue, driving is smooth and uneventful.”
- “Father God, I thank you for the authority you gave to Adam, and for the Sacrifice of Jesus restoring it to me. I thank you for teaching us in Your Scripture that what we say is very important. Amen”
I remember a January day in 2015 here in Michigan where night time temps dropped to -35, the daytime high was -10 and we had diamond dust falling from the skies. If you dont know what diamond dust is, it is where the air is so cold that the water vapor freezes and falls with a clear blue sky looking like little snow diamonds.
We have exited El Nino and this is what happens when the jet changes. We go from an east west jet to an oscillating jet allowing for the polar jet to weaken and the polar vortex slips south. I plow snow all winter and do concrete all summer. I have been recording temps and precip in a journal for 40 years. Looking through it, this is nothing out of the ordinary.
Thank you for the perspective. I do agree it is mostly a shift to "scary narrative" about normal weather events.
My main point is the storm in the book of Mark was causing problems and Jesus illustrated the authority provided to intervene. The account from Numbers points out the impact of the spoken word.
The normal cold of Minnesota poured onto Texas is not an event that is helpful. Just like the heat of Louisiana hanging out in Maine only hurts people and steals money.
Human cultures need to stay in their geographic zone, the weather needs to stay where it is "normal".
