Unfortunately that was tried in 2014/2015 during the Minsk Accords. From then until the start of the SMO, 14,000 Russian speaking citizens in the Donbass were slaughtered. It was revealed by both Merkel and Hollande (French President) that it was just a ruse to arm Ukraine to the teeth. They didn’t intend to honour the Accords, but to buildup the Ukraine Military.

Putin didn’t want to take the Russian Military into Ukraine because he viewed the Ukrainians as ‘fellow Slavs - Brothers’. But pressure from the Russian people, especially those caught in the Donbass that had for nearly a decade been calling out for desperate help, finally caused Putin to act and the Russian Military entered Ukraine in February 2022.

There were two reasons Why Putin entered Ukraine: to DEmilitarise it and to DEnatzify it. Of course there are many that aren’t Nazis, but the military leadership are Banderites and carry the symbols and use the Nazi agenda against their own people. I referred originally of the horrific scenes of these Banderites carrying out beatings and worse against their own people. Daily. Captured Ukraine fighters tell of those trying to surrender of being shot in the back or buried alive. No civilised army would do such things. The war needs to end. But while the West/UK/EU continue to pour money into Ukraine, nothing will change and those supplying the money will use innocent Ukrainians to protect their ill gained wealth.
