This is one of the few times I can read the underlying thoughts of this man's mind, having been on the receiving end of losing a house to a fire myself. I was lucky enough to have insurance that covered most of the loss, but he would have had to deal with the government's reimbursement (which is far more of a nightmare scenario)
The tldr of his thoughts would be simply "there, but for the grace of God, go I"
