Most of us arenβt confused, we all know about the deal with the AF1 call sign, itβs been discussed ad nauseam on GAW over the past several yearsβ¦
But itβs easier to (yes, technically incorrect) call it βAF1β than to call it βthat blue and white plane thatβs referred to as AF1 when a sitting President is onboard, and is called something else when a sitting President is not onboard.β
Has a President ever flown on AF1 before being sworn in???
That is not AF1. Please my other notes on this in this post. Y'all are confused about when a plane is Air Force One and when it is not.

The plane he flew on today was not the 747 with the heavy retrofitting that is normally used as AF1.
That was either a 757 or 767 and looks like the one normally used as AF2.
Some folks were definitely confused because they were saying, "Trump is flying on Air Force One! Does that mean he was already sworn in?"
No. It wasn't even the same plane. Things like this matter.
AF1 is a call sign not any particular aircraft
