As I watched the Pass in Review with our CIC, all I could think was, "Thank you God thank you God thank you God. Our troops will live and not die as well as many civilians around the world."Perhaps it could be said that our troops did not die in vain but to expose the evil?

I couldn't agree with you more. The loss of troops and also the massive amount of needless civilian deaths have been horrific. I breathe a sigh of relief today.
