South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol was indicted on charges of insurrection on Sunday, the first sitting South Korean president face a criminal indictment.
Insurrection, one of the few crimes that executive immunity does not protect South Korean presidents from being charged with, is punishable by life in prison or the death penalty. The charges stem from Yoon attempting, and rapidly failing, to impose military rule on the country on December 3. Yoon prompted an ongoing political firestorm in the country by abruptly declaring martial law in early December, claiming it necessary because the opposition-led National Assembly was blocking his legislative agenda.
"Yoon prompted an ongoing political firestorm in the country by abruptly declaring martial law in early December, claiming it necessary because the opposition-led National Assembly was blocking his legislative agenda." To me, this doesn't bode well for his defense. It sounds like a spoiled child throwing a temper tantrum and his parents are fixing to spank him. But, I certainly do not know all the ins and outs of this story. I wish we could see if he's equivalent to a Conservative or a Liberal.
Like all but 1 of their last 12 Presidents. Has either been impeached and or indicted and sentenced to prison on various charges. Or Executed. Sometimes all 3. Usually by the incoming administration. So itβs hardly surprising
And South Korea is considered one of the handful of βSuccessβ stories when it comes to American nation building. When itβs not all that successful or stable politically. The relative strength of their Economy just allows them to compensate for the problems related to dismal Governance
Death Penalty for someone who hasn't been President for long for some BS charges? Say bye bye to SK.. the people there are all brainwashed and indoctrinated with herd mentality.
