About the only state out of the 50 that could theoretically go it alone as an independent country is probably Texas. And that’s a Maybe.
The others are to interconnected and reliant on each other to make for a truly independent country. Regardless of what idiots on the internet or ancient Legal Documents insist on.
California has the 5th largest economy in the world. They could survive on their own... if they had leadership.
They are clearing the state out for some reason.
They want Feudalism 2.0.
Serfs and Nobles, and only a few Merchants.

Yes, I think you are right. Once all of the hoi polloi (rif-raf) have been burned out or starved out, they can make it their big paradise, by invitation only.
And if that doesn't work soon, they will press the right buttons and slide Cali into the sea. I'll be sitting on the bluffs in my normal place waiting.
They imagine they will create a version of Mexico, but one that works.
Just like "Demolition Man."
