So Europe backs Ukraine what next? A Norwegian company is refusing to refuel US warships. I would not be surprised if POTUS starts withdrawing troops from Europe starting with the air force.

A message will be sent, and this would tell Europe if you escalate to war, you are on your own. Without the US airforce it would be a turkey shoot for Russia, most of Europe's air defense systems are in Ukraine and their air force barely operates.
