Just paying attention to the Panama Canal and Greenland, that doesn't seem to be the strategy for either China or the US at this point. The US and China are direct competitors in a zero sum game.
Remember, China wants a BRICS currency solely to break down the US dollar in terms of world trade. Trump is tariffing the crap out of them for a reason.
Edit: I don't disagree with you long-term, but short-term Russia is just a pawn in a game between China and the US. Neither China or the US can land boots anywhere in a European conflict without raising these tensions, and that's why North Korea was tapped for support and not China. WWIII will be economic.
