Honestly not this big, but there are assholes that burn basically anything they have rather than just taking it to a landfill, or at the very least, properly setting one up so it doesn't spread. Saying that, the average amount of people who still burn yard waste is much lower than it used to be. Real estate contractors clearing land have the most fires.
On the other hand, it's really bizarre. Fires don't get this out of control ever here, even if someone is a nimwit. We have a very active volunteer firefighter presence, so sabotage is still on the table here.
Thx! I think it is terrorism of one kind or another. I can’t recall hearing about mid / large scale fires in S.C…..ever……regardless of the season. I’m not in / near the area though. Appreciate the insight.
Mid-winter and ‘fires’ just don’t add up - especially ‘naturally occurring’ ones.

Some of the better volunteer firefighters I have dealt with in SC. Those darn pine needles cause a lot of fires.
