I'm Canadian, and I think this tariff war is dumb but the dumbest thing of all is how Canada is responding. Trump has made it eminently clear that tit for tat tariffs will trigger further raises, and yet Trudeau didn't seem to get the message.

"Uh, well he sure meant business about bringing in the tariffs, but I bet he won't raise them further! duhuhhh."

The thing most don't understand is Canada has been super closed in areas like the diary industry for example. Our quota system is bizarre - even the farmers hate it. And it's all propped up by high tariffs on US dairy products.
