I'm a quarter Dutch. Think about it. They needed land on which to live and farm, and the only option was to conquer it from somewhere else. So, they conquered it from the sea. (As it turns out, there was a Dutch township in the county that I was born in. My maternal grandmother's family settled there. Dutch cookies are the best! But the Dutch were known to be very stubborn.)
