Its hard to accept. But yes cutting off part of the penis has been normalized but it is deeply disturbing and wrong, a significant trauma for the baby, causes sexual harm, can lead to complete amputation resulting in unintended sex reossignment, or gangrene, and sometimes death. it must be stopped.
Your level of denial is unfortunately a well documented trauma response. I feel for you and all who have been hamed. In America this really took off because of Kellog.

I will be okay. Im more disturbed at finding out that everyone Ive known and looked up to is a pedophile. All of the people I thought were trying to stop the pedophiles, are all actually pedophiles. Its awful. All those people in church. All of the people at Ja. 6th. Its insane we are on the bad guys side. Pray!!
Look. It's wrong to accuse them of being a "pedophile." They don't know better. You didn't. It's sadly been normalized in our culture by sick people. We believe it's a medical procedure, but it's not.
The practice itself is deeply harming to boys and later men. It is deeply, deeply disturbing to partially amputate the penis of a little boy.
If you don't feel harmed by it, I am envious of you.
Also. You're not a bad father. But as a society we can do better and need to learn from our mistakes. Peace and love and respect for bodily autonomy is the way forward. Genital cutting of minors, of ALL forms, needs to be stopped.
