You must be in NE U.S. :) Property taxes here in NY are CLEARLY above the value of the property 60 years ago. The school tax is what is really ridiculous! People in the north say, "But the schools are so much better than in the south!" If you use average SAT scores as the metric of school success, southern schools do better on average than northern schools, for less than half the cost per student per year!
