So the extent of what assistance could be provided would probably depend on who they were talking to in the Soviet Government.

He was brought in ground floor of the CIA when it formed and Donovan brought in many German Intel guys. Ostensibly because they had a good handle on the soviets. OLEGZ first infiltrated the German Intel then was brought into cia with them. So it blows my mind Kennedy was relying on soviets for help with this. Because if he could do that the the narrative of the relationship between our countries at that time is highly suspect.
