I recently read the book Shantaram - allegedly based on true events written by an Australian criminal who gets involved in terrorism. It's an interesting read. In the book, secret services from countries who are supposed to be at war, secretly work together to betray the lead. He has a great line in the book about how "the greatest secret of the secret services is that they all secretly work together." (I'm paraphrasing, I don't remember the exact quote but it's very interesting)
