I’m trying to determine if they were dei. Listening to the air traffic recording one of the pilots is male but it still interested in learning their identities. Anyone found out ?

The one on the radio wasn't flying. The pilot flying was female and should not have been on the flight. I'd post references but I read this on multiple sites a couple of weeks ago. SHE is a simulator instructor and was apparently given a waiver to fly... she didn't have currency on the aircraft.
I’m talking about the southwest incident that just happened today
How is she not current if she is a sim instructor on the 737?
A simulator doesn’t give you currency, only the real thing does.
What? Lmao, you get your type rating in a simulator, you do your IPC’s in a simulator. The only time you do a check in the real thing is for your company standards. A level D simulator is looked at like the real thing. Look up 14 cfr 121.439
Wow, you just made me feel old. Back in my day we had to walk 5 miles in snow to get to the simulator. And a little camera followed along a toy board, if you had visual at all. 🤣🤣
Thanks for the correction. 😎
I agree DEI is a problem in the airline industry but I haven't seen any evidence that these particular pilots were DEI hires (or drug users, as some twitter posters are claiming).
Another aspect that might be relevant here is that many airports are now poorly maintained, with weeds growing up around the place markers next to the taxiways and runways that can make it easy to confuse a "5" and a "6", for example. These place markers tell pilots where they are amid the maze of taxiways.
Also, even though the stop/start positions on the taxiways are usually painted right onto the pavement, often the painting is worn and damaged so that it's very difficult to read, more so if there is fog at the airport.
