Anyone remember in 1982 when all the planets were going to line up and that was going to be the end?

The Jupiter Effect is a 1974 book by John Gribbin and Stephen Plagemann, in which the authors predicted that an alignment of the planets of the Solar System would create a number of catastrophes, including a great earthquake on the San Andreas Fault, on March 10, 1982. The book became a best-seller.[ The predicted catastrophes did not occur.

Isn't that when the Earth was on one side of the Sun and all the other planets were lined up on the other side? I remember they said all the planets' gravity together, was going to spell doom for us! 🙄

Yup. There were a lot of doomers walking around predicting the planet would be devastated. I was like - this probably happens every few hundred years, why is this time different?
