I remember vividly in 1996, when I had just bought my first new car (when I thought that was a good decision), I was at a stop light, feeling proud of my shiny new car. The news comes on at the top of the hour, and the news guy says "Government officials say that we will run out of gasoline in 10 years". I remember feeling deflated, and thinking "well, at least I get to enjoy my new car for a few years before I can't put fuel in it anymore." I am still mad that they took the wind out of my sails with their lies.
