👉🏻 Link to yesterday’s post.

Holy Father, yesterday I had an exception day: I asked my neighbor to take me to the next village to collect a parcel and as this country shop also is a meeting spot for the old peasant, he proposed to have a drink. I enjoyed the atmosphere and we drank moderately, discussing French politics with the locals. A good hint for the French officials would be not to listen to these inept Parisians but rather to the older rural population who know how hard it just always was to feed the population, especially given the stupid EU regulations. So it felt good to have this people share their advice and be a local for that moment. I believe there is plenty of such people who feel isolated and unconsidered, and they surely get very sociable when they know we are eager to give them the opportunity to have their voice heard. I praise You for reminding me about this spirit.

AGENDA

👉🏻 Today we celebrate Burgundofara.

Burgundofara (died 643 or 655), also Saint Fara or Fare, was the founder and first abbess of the Abbey of Faremoutiers. She is betrothed against her will and falls deathly ill. Her father Chagneric says to Eustasius of Luxeuil, who happens to be present, "Would that she might return to health and devote herself to divine service!" Burgundofara recovers, thanks to Eustasius's prayers, but her father goes back on his word and decides to give her away in marriage. She discovers this, and flees to the church of Saint Stephen in Meaux. There her brothers Faro and Chagnoald catch her, and are set on killing her for disobeying their father Chagneric, but the timely arrival of Eustasius settles matters. With Eustasius's support, and the approval of Bishop Gundoald of Meaux, Burgundofara established an abbey on her father's lands. First called Evoriacum, it was later renamed Faremoutiers in her honour.
