On the other side of things, when I have seen American food sections and promotions in Arab Gulf countries, they tended to have
partially hydrogenated oils
high fructose corn syrup (HFCS)
which meant I didn't buy them.
For example, Heinz ketchup made in Egypt or UAE has sugar as the sweetener, and not HFCS. On some of my visits to the USA, I have seen non-HFCS ketchups available, but one has to be careful and look for them. A can of soda with HFCS wrecks my gut, but one with sugar does not. Hopefully RFK Jr will do something about the Corn lobby and HFCS in everything.
