I was stationed at RAF Alconbury, UK for 2 years in my USAF career. It took me a long time to get my American spellings back. Defense/Defence, Neighbor/Neighbour, Color/Colour, Aluminum/Aluminium, etc. The Defence one was the worst since I was of course under the Secretary of Defense.

What I find cool is as I'm typing this on my browser I have a bunch of red-underlined words above - the UK English words. I bet if you typed the same the American English words would be underlined on your browser.
