Hanta itself isn't rare. Living in an area where the mice have it plus the mice are in your own residence, barn, etc, and a human catching it, is pretty rare. As an example, northwestern New Mexico has pockets of hanta carrying rodents. But Flagstaff AZ does not. And I suspect that elevation has something to do with that because fleas on critters, explode in high elevation. We don't have much need for flea collars in Flag, at 7k feet!
