What there really are, are children who are born gay or born lesbian. These children don't have to know what sex is to know that they are fundamentally different from most people around them. Puberty will inform them that they are gay or lesbian. But before that happens, there are sissy boys who feel like girls and tomboy girls who wish they were boys.

Mutilating and mis-medicating gender non-conforming children is just the latest in a long line of historic outrages that society has inflicted on gay men and lesbians rather than simply allowing that some people are born gender non-conformists and will remain that way, no matter what they or anyone else does to them.
