My "masks are shit" moment came when I was watching a video someone had produced. A guy was there with a mask on his face, and a lit cigarette in his hand. He lifted the mask aside a little bit so he could take a big drag on the cigarette, and then replaced the mask and ditched the cigarette. In moments, he exhaled the smoke and it exited all around the periphery of the mask in a cloud much bigger than his head. Bingo. How are we supposed to think that viruses would not do the same thing? I'm an aerodynamicist by training, so that was for me a totally convincing disproof of masking.
My only dejection nowadays is that masking is so passe, no one does it, and I have no opportunities to be a churl and refuse to comply.

Trying to stop a virus with the little blue masks (Made In CHINA) is like trying to stop a mosquito with a chain link fence.
